So, can anyone tell me if there's a way that I can force excel to enter a new line within an existing cell, instead of moving to the next cell, when Enter is hit? I realise I can turn off the automatic shift to the next cell in Options, but when I do this and hit Enter Excel just assumes the data entry is complete. I'll be telling them about Alt + Enter to add a new line of text, but I'm 99.9% sure this won't stop the moaning. As such I know that I'm going to get loads of moans that they can't add in a new line of text when they hit enter, or that to do so makes the process time consuming. I've done this with conditional formatting, working fine.īUT, I'll be asking colleagues to fill in the progress cells with their text and few of them are particularly excel-literate.
